The Office of the Executive Dean, Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, leads the charge in scientific inquiry and laboratory precision. As the diagnostic landscape of global health evolves, our office ensures that MCHS remains a leader in training technicians and scientists who provide the critical data needed for patient treatment.

Background

The Faculty of Medical Sciences is comprised of three core pillars: Medical Laboratory Sciences, Pharmacy, and Radiography. The faculty provides the essential scientific backbone of the College, training students to master the sophisticated technology and rigorous protocols required for modern medical diagnostics and pharmaceutical care.

Our Departments

Department of Pharmacy

Preparing pharmacists and pharmaceutical technicians who ensure safe medication dispensing, drug management, and pharmaceutical care in hospitals, clinics, and community pharmacies throughout Malawi.

Department of Radiography

Training radiographers and imaging specialists who operate modern diagnostic equipment including X-ray, ultrasound, and CT scanners, providing essential imaging services for accurate medical diagnosis.

Department of Biomedical Sciences

Developing specialists who maintain, repair, and manage sophisticated medical equipment, ensuring that healthcare facilities have functional diagnostic and treatment devices for patient care.

Department of Public Health

Focusing on disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and community health testing. Graduates work in public health laboratories supporting malaria, TB, and HIV/AIDS programs.
