The Office of the Executive Dean, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, provides strategic leadership to the largest nursing training department in the country. Our mission is to produce graduates who are not only technically proficient but also exemplify the compassion and ethical integrity required for high-quality patient care.

Background

The Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at MCHS encompasses several specialized disciplines including Community Health Nursing, Midwifery, and Clinical Nursing Sciences. We provide a comprehensive educational experience that blends rigorous theoretical instruction with intensive clinical rotations in Malawi's major referral hospitals.

Our Departments

Department of Midwifery

Training skilled midwives who provide essential maternal and newborn care, ensuring safe deliveries and reducing maternal mortality rates across Malawi's healthcare facilities.

Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing

Preparing nurses to deliver comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, as well as pre-operative and post-operative surgical care in hospital settings.

Department of Community Health Nursing

Focusing on population health, disease prevention, and health promotion at the community level. Graduates work in clinics, schools, and community outreach programs across Malawi.
